This site was recommended by Sarah, a student in New Hampshire who is helping her library's media specialist update their Textile and Fiber Arts guide.  The site has lots of good information for new quilters, including a history of quilting, basic quilting supplies, and simple patterns for beginners.

Bernina's website We All Sew has an overview of the quilt-making process with links to beginner projects, a list of must-have tools for quilters, and other good information.
